CCLLC focuses on billing insurance companies for psychotherapists. A variety of plans are offered that allow providers to determine how involved they wish to be in the administrative aspects of billing:
- Basic Claims Processing
- Claims Processing with Insurance Payment Tracking
- Claims Processing with Full Payment Tracking
In 2020, COVID-19 upended lives and practices in many ways with the provision (and billing) of telehealth services further complicating practices. Place of service codes and modifiers can vary from one insurance company to another – improper coding could result in lower reimbursement rates. As a member of the American Medical Billing Association (AMBA) and an active participant in Mental Health Billing forums, I keep updated with the current trends.
If you already utilize an electronic health records system (EHR) that includes the capacity to submit insurance claims, either Basic Claims Processing or Claims Processing with Insurance Payment Tracking may be suitable for you. Simple Practice and Therapy Notes are two of the EHR systems commonly used.
If you do not utilize an EHR that includes the capacity to submit insurance claims, CCLLC utilizes the Practice Mate component of Office Ally. Providers can access Practice Mate and view insurance billing/payment information and also enter appointments into the calendar to be billed.
Over the years, I have found that some providers just wish insurance claims to be filed on their behalf – they track the payments on their end. Other providers wish to remove themselves from the billing process almost entirely, with other providers being somewhere in the middle. Please note that while CCLLC may send out client invoices on a provider’s behalf (after reviewing the invoices), providers are responsible for collecting the fees themselves.
